WHY do traffic officers have to save SOLDIERS on a military base?

The state-run media is calling the murders at Ft. Hood a tragedy.

It's not a tragedy, it was a terrorist attack committed by a psychopath.

It is a "TRAGEDY" that we send our soldiers off to die in battle but do not allow them the means to protect themselves (and us) in our own country!

Our leaders (and I use that term loosely) won't lighten up and allow soldiers to carry on base. They will tighten restrictions!

Their mentality is to punish everybody for the crime of one scumbag.

We see this all of the time. Where I work, when one person screws up, everybody gets punished and we lose more of our rights.

    Count on it.

    VirtueKnight,
Thank you for the read. It's is amazing how many, like myself believe exactly what you wrote. My youngest son was just recently commissioned as a 2nd LT in the ARMY and had he not been in Ft Benning GA for his Ranger Training, he would have been there. That is his home base. Even before he enlisted in the Army Reserves in High School he could not understand why the soldiers he saw were never armed. He like me his Dad both have our Texas Concealed Handgun Licenses and carry wherever legal. He, I and my oldest son have all been through training for handgun, rifle and shotgun battlefield tatcics. I pray that he never has to use it.

I agree with your post and would go a step further.
I can see not allowing weapons in jails. I can see not allowing them in a court room. I think it a bit unresonable to limit them other places.

I fail to read in the amendments where it says ecept in ......

If there is yet another "Major Terrorist Traitor Nidal Malik Hasan" type incident - military families are going to start screaming at Washington so loud and so hard that something is going to have to change big time.
They have reached the end of their rope.

    Nope.
Military familes are a non issue with this administration.

It is a real shame that it will have to happen again before anything changes.

Well written. I agree. I am retired and the only time I am out and about unarmed is when we go to the base. It needs to change. The solution is political. Political with elected officials. Political with flag officers. Let's make noise with our reps and the commanders of the bases we frequent.

Very good article - I totally agree!

Almost didn't read it because of the long-running text without paragraphs - drives me nuts (extremely hard to read)!

Politicians control the military and I believe that is one of the main reasons high ranking politicians don't want an armed military outside of combat zones - they are afraid of the possibility of a military coup.

I saw a show regarding basic training where the recruits were required to have their rifle at all times. I think every soldier should be issued a weapon and a few 30rd mags once trained. I thinks this works for Israel.

Great idea, but until we can get the current moron in chief out of office, it won't happen.
