And a NYC license is validf anywhere in the state, but a state license is not valid in NYC.

Of course the Sullivan Law was written to AID criminal gang activities of Tim Sullivan's gang, The Five Points Irish gang.

He made sure his gang guy had permits and his rivals didn't. That way the cops help his gang.

    Nothing has really changed.

Idaho = CWP (Concealed Weapons Permit)

It may or may not have something to do with the wording of the laws in your sate and not just an arbitrary thing.

    Technically speaking,
Permit means: A license or warrant to do something not forbidden bylaw

License: permits you to do something that would otherwise be illegal, The permission granted by competent authority to exercise a certain privilege that, without such authorization, would constitute an illegal act

Thanks for posting these, as I see some of these fairly often and I can't always figure them out. I think the most recent one was GFL although I now see it described.

    CPL here
Concealed Pistol (and pistol is defined as a handgun) License. The only concealed weapon we can carry is a handgun, no knives, hatchets, sticks, sporks etc.
