As has already been stated, in the state of South Carolina, if you have a current CWP, you will not have to undergo a background check during the course of a firearm purchase. It's been done and the CWP card is proof of this.

Hey y'all: Bottom line on my posts and the replies, for the most part, is that I am "preachin to the choir". The very name of this forum and the very name of this forum category clearly indicate that most, if not all of you, feel very strongly about your decision to CC. I guess my real reason for posting my comments is that feeling that many of you are just so "loaded for bear" that I get a sense of real foreboding about our society. As our country falls deeper into debt and into a classless socialistic, almost fascist one party despotic rule of law, I may begin to change my mind more about continuous CC; it is this change (hate that word) that has taken place in this country, which is the principal reason I chose to purchase a firearm in the first place; I took the CCW course more to learn and appreciate than to just obtain the permit. I do carry in my car, and having the CCWP allows me a little more freedom of choice in my car and certainly elsewhere, and now I carry when I take my one hour walks in the morn, mainly because of dogs (the 4 legged ones not the 2 legged ones), although having the CCW will provide me with protection from both. I really wish something changes on the restaurant/liquor sales limit on CC. As for Charleston figures on crime First Sgt., statistics are just numbers and do not begin to tell any part of any real story; common sense over 68 years goes a heck of a lot farther than walking around a little tipsy at 2PM in the "wrong areas of town"---or being fortunate to live in an area of Charleston County that is far from a war zone. I appreciate posters' somewhat strong rebuke or comments about my position and I guess I just wish things were different in our society and that forums like this one did not even have to exist, where we have to discuss our protection from others; it is, unfortunately, an ideal thought that will never happen--we will always need the First Sgts of the world---thanks to y'all---be safe--- I hope you never have to practice what you preach and learn on this forum--Merry Xmas and Happy New Year.
