There's always Kmart...! Here, employers can't stop you from securing firearms in the parking lot.

I guess it depends on the state your in. Here in Mn the state law for carry trumps this making it legal to keep it locked in your car on there property.merlin45kout

Our Wal-Marts are selling handgun ammo, let's not start that again.
I don't go to Wal-Mart, my blood pressure has been good for 4 months now. If their ammo is cheaper, your darn right I'll run in their and get it, to heck with this they won't get my money crap, it's called economics, if it's cheaper their, I'm not a fool, I'll buy it cheaper where ever I can find it. I sure won't buy anything else there, but ammo I sure as heck will.

In Mississippi they would have to provide a gated, secure parking lot, not accessable by general public.

OK, so you will buy ammo there to save a few dollars, why won't you buy milk or meat there? how about dvd movies? You don't mind spending the money you saved on ammo to buy a movie at blockbuster? What did you gain by saving $3.00 on ammo then spending $3.00 more for a movie?
I shop at Walmart because it saves ME money.

At least one state has statutes covering this, IIRC, forcing business owners to accept the right of people who are otherwise legally armed to carry their weapons in the cars during work times, acknowledging that disallowing it would essentially relegate people to disarmed status outside the home.
Fact is, property rights are important as well, which is why you're not seeing this sort of thing in all 50 states. So, check your state laws. A few folks have mentioned some of the states that do protect people for storage of weapons in their cars during work times, above.
And, even if there is no such statute covering you for storage in your car on company property while working, you can always park elsewhere and retain the right to leave your unattended firearm there.
