COM permanently mounted in trunk of car. Secure-it in our travel luggage for when we visit grandkids. Properly securing weapon from prying hands may not be taught at the fancy combat courses but it would be a heartbreaking and tragic lesson to have to learn from experience.

out of stock and they were more expensive for the large size when i ordered mine...there are 2 sizes of that safe and the small wont fit a full size handgun...the size difference isnt much but its enough to make up for extra mags and such...the large is normally $10 more at most stores...another thing to watch for is some companies sell the safe without the cable and get extra for the cable...it can be purchased both ways...

My only complaint is that I had to air out the safe for about 3 days in the garage to get the moth ball smell out.
roger that...they use an anti corrosion treatment on the foamm and it smells to high heaven when you first get it...

the sentry safes are ridiculously easy to pry open..they are more for fire protection and lightweight security...there is a video of one bein pried open with a screwdriver on youtube that is very surprising...

that is sweet in the center console...out of sight and in a tight place makes it tough to screw with...nice...

I paid under $50.00 and it's solid. I have two COMs keyed alike but feel just a little better with this safe.

I found this one at Amazon so you could read about it: Amazon.com: Stack-On PDS-500 Drawer Safe with Electronic Lock: Home Improvement

I have the samething except, mine is bolted under the back seeat of my truck and does not show, till I lift the seqat up.

I like that setup. That center console must be HUGE.

In Wisconsin I can't have a safe in my car unless it has a long enough cable to be completely outside of the car when I put the gun in or take it out. If the case of a gun is resting on or in the car, it's illegal because that's an uncased firearm in a vehicle. I need to move to a new state...

Cabela's price is the same for either size. It's the combo-lock model that's $5 more. I'm looking at the web page as I write this.

Heres what I am going to use...

    | Sentry® Safe | KDS-1 Drawersafe/Keybox

Found this at walmart today in the office supply section. Its a square key box, perfect for LCP's Keltecs and other small pistols.

Paid 11.97 for it. It will fit in a small center console. Im going to take a bicycle brake/ gearshift cable and run it to the front seat leg to secure it.

They had a larger money box that may work for larger framed pistols. Cheaper, 9.97.

I dont leave anything in sight ever. I have a factory radio. If they are already in the car it will discourage them or severely hinder them if they want a key box with unknown contents.

Many good ideas. I am for anything that works and keeps handguns away from the wrong hands when you can't have the piece on you.
