    Firing Dragon:

I am in total agreement with you but have quit trying to explain to others about it.

When shooting IPSIC matches, the RO's are always befuddled when I holster my carry weapon with empty chamber prior to shooting a stage.

I usually just tell them, "That's the way I learned to do it."

I sometimes get to shoot with local LEO's when they qualify and always outshoot most of them using the Isreally method of starting out in condition 3.

My holstered weapon is in empty chamber configuration, safety off (who needs it?) and hammer cocked (easier to rack the slide).

Can there be a safer way to carry an autoloader pistol?

Not sure, but I think that the reason the Isreall govt. did this was not because of worry about unsafe safetys, but the sheer multitude of handguns of all types used. This method worked with all of them.

Or his arm has been broke, cut, shot, etc. and is out of the fight.

I've seen it said a 1,000,000 times but an unloaded carry weapon is an expensive paper weight.

I'll give it to the guy he is fast......but fast doesn't always win.

We'd all be fast if we had a range 50' from our back door and unlimited ammo. I'd be doing at least an hour a day.

I'm surprised they don't unload and make safe before they run to the next shooting position.

I am old, I am slow and I get befuddled. Glock 23 is carried with one in chamber and the rest of the time I carry revolver with 5-6 in chamber!

In downtown Atlanta, those two dudes would probably be guest of Grady Memorial Hospital if they carried in that condition. Fast isn't fast enough when there's three points of movement compared to two, and in some cases the BG has his pistol out already as he starts his attack, so the Israeli way is coming up way short. Condition one is only logical way to carry a defense tool into an unknown situation.

The trouble is: Bad people [including pretty, young and old women] KNOW that they are going to shoot and are ready to.

Do they still carry in that way? I read before that they carried in condition 3 for a long time ago, but that nowadays they carry with one in the chamber. Does anyone know if it is true or not?
