Flip Em The Bird And Die Like a Viking
    Perhaps.

Respect and consideration both directions has characterized my few encounters. I won't be screwed with, and I act that way. I respect the tough job being done, and I act that way as well. Might not work for everyone, but it has worked for me.

Can't imagine how the flip-em-off-and-die method would work, by comparison. I am assuming it would be worse.

I think I'd rather be a Nerd than a Dork. Do we have to go through some official process so that I can change? Perhaps a motion, a second, an all in favor vote or something?

In fact, anyone has the right to assume ANYTHING about me, so long as they OBEY THE LAW. If they bar me from their home or business because I'm a gun owner, that is their right.

And by the way, please quote where I called you "names". Feel free to quote me doing so.

    I eagerly await your apology.
I'm sorry I didn't specify. I was directing that part towards Treo.

Also, I was saying that you are automatically assuming the worst of someone because a small number of people, same as people who equate guns with criminals.

I'm done with this. I'm spoken my peace, and I won't be returning to this thread.

Also I do not have a grudge against the police, what I have is a very solid reason for protecting my civil liberties any time I encounter an officer officially. I deal w/ the police on a daily basis on my second job and I make certain that my interactions W/ them are courteous and professional at all times.

The main reason I post here is in the hope that my experience can stop someone else from making the same mistake.

You can't expect members to listen when you are calling them names in the same breath.

You donít have to be a ***** to the police you simply, politely and firmly assert your rights anytime you interact W/ them
We all have different experiences in life that make us decide what is right for us, like whether to inform or not. The best we can do is share our experiences and let others decide their best course of action. To belittle them for it is in no way aiding them or constructively teaching anything.

Most here consider themselves part of a large family and while we will disagree it should be done in a non condescending way. You have chosen a different approach....

If showing repsect to the LEO by indicating my carry status and valid permit is being a dork, then I'm a bonified one for sure. (That and its the law here). My GF has a fridge magnet that says I Love Dorks, so i guess thats why she loves me.

In my state, MN, we don't have to notify, and I don't. What's the point??? I'm no threat to the LEO, so please don't give me that "officer safety" BS...

Where I live we are not required to inform an LEO, during a traffic stop, that we are carrying. In fact LEO's are prohibited from asking. However, most know in this state that out of respect for the LEO's and our safety we inform them when we are carrying. The LEO's respect us for doing so.
