IAFF ccw?

Just wondering if there are any members of the fire service out there that CCW. If you do carry conceal what are your reasons for carry. Nice to hear from the brothers and sisters out there that carry concealed. Good luck and stay safe!

I did in my POV when I was on the fire dept. and when i was the BC, but it was easy to take a paddle holster off and lock in my truck..... if there was any chance I had to put turn outs on then I always locked it up in my POV..
I didn't really want to have it on me if I had to enter a burning structure....

I carry for the same reasons everyone else does. Plus I, as well as our fellow brothers and sisters, have seen first hand what happens to the human body on the wrong side of the knife/gun/fist/pipe. No carry while on duty, the city does not like that. Local ****. Too much info. No one knows I carry and I intend to keep it that way. Lets just say I work at a house in the Clearwater/Largo/St.pete area.

As a former volunteer firefighter, I doubt there are many who would find it proper to carry while actually fighting a structure fire. In a perfect world, there would be gun lockers on the engines and the engineer would have a slung Thompson.

Remember those riots where rioters were pelting and shooting at the engines? No FFs shot back, and they didn't always have LEO escort. Scary stuff.

I don't carry at work, carry pretty much everywhere else. I do keep a "rescue" knife or two and a small can of "dog repellent" OC in my stuff.

Another local department is a Public Safety agency with LEO, fire and EMS trained personnel. They do have a gun locker on their engine in case someone armed needs to dress out.

I do have a friend who was a paid medic and volunteer FF who shot a patient on a call many years ago.

And here I thought that was what the monitor (deck gun) was for..... they seam to take mirrors off rather well

Do they work as well as a 5" hydrant discharge does at cleaning passing cars? I swear I'm not the one who advertised free car wash.
