I am looking to get my first good belt for CC. I can't spend alot of money and most of the belts I am seeing are from 80 and up. I did find one by Don Hume for just under 50. I was wondering if anyone has any opinions of the product, quality etc... and/or the company itself as far as knowledge and service etc... Here is the link for the belt. Looks good to me, but being my first I'm not really sure what to look for.
B109-L 1 1/4 [B109-L] - $48.80 : Don Hume Leathergoods, manufactures high quality leather and nylon goods.
Check out the Wilderness Instructor belts. Under $50 IIRC.
*WARNING - I may or may not know what I am talking about.
That Don Hume belt is only 1-1/4". Whatever brand you get I'd suggest 1-1/2".
I've had a Galco SB2 dress belt for two years, wear it daily, and highly recommend it. I think it runs about $60. It's well worth it if you want a dress belt.
In the heat of the moment, what matters is what your body knows -- not what your mind knows.
I think you can find a better quality belt for the money than the Don Hume. They make decent holsters, but they are not top quality... I have several Hume holsters but would look for better quality in a belt...I would pick the Looper over the Don Hume...

I wear the 5.11 TDU belt. $13, I believe... awesome belt.
I have 2 of these belts one brown the other black. Mine are the 1 1/2" wide. I have owned them for almost 2 years and after daily wear the both are in excellent shape. They support my 5" 1911 very comfortably. I would not hesitate to buy another.
You should be able to do better than $50.00 for a Don Hume belt. Check your local uniform shops. I have purchased DH belts for less than $30.00
5.11 has an off the shelf gun belt That is available for less than $30.00 and is reinforced with a Kydex insert.(L.A. Police Gear was selling the Covert Khakis for $30 with a free gun belt)
That being said, $60-$80 for a quality hand made gun belt is money well spent!
I am going to duck while I say this.. I wear a $12 Wal-Mart belt.. I looked at Wal-Mart for an emergency belt while my old one finally wore out.. It is a really nice gun belt that I have had for over 2 years now.. Not one issue so far (except that it is dark brown so hard to wear with everything like a black belt would have been).. It is 1 1/2" wide which occasionally can be a problem with my supertuck and some clothes.. The clips just *barely* fit and have found it slightly off at the end of a long carry day.. THis only happens with one pair of jeans in which the jeans seems to bunch up over the belt where the back clip is..
All in all, it has been a WONDERFUL Wal-Mart find.. In two years, it still works perfectly and I can barely notice my firearm.. My results are not typical.. hehe YMMV...
Wow, thanks to everybody for the advice. I will check out all these options. Living in South Florida, I always dress in shorts and a polo shirt always tucked in. The shorts are docker, more to the dressy side as shorts go versus cargo type. I am looking for a dress belt to wear with everything.
Here's a holsermaker that does belts right...double thickness, quality leather, and she's way too cheap for the market.

Treat me good, I'll treat you better. Treat me bad, I'll treat you worse.
I have one of the Looper Reinforced belts, a Wilderness Tactical and one from the Beltman. All good belts. Looper is probably the best for the money.
