This is a discussion on Spare magazines - how many do you carry, etc. within the Concealed Carry Issues & Discussions forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; One in the USP, one extra mag on the side. It's better to be prepared....
One in the USP, one extra mag on the side. It's better to be prepared.
I carry a Glock 26, 10 + 1....two extra mags, weak side. The extra mags aren't necessarily for additional rounds, they are for the "unexpected" (malfunctions, broken mags, additional BG's)....
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
What's a Surefire?
Nevermind, I googled it and see that it's a flashlight.

With my Glock 26 it is pretty much the same thing as First Sgt said, but I carry Glock 17 mags as my back up holding 17 instead of 10. When I carry my P-3at I have a 10 round mag as backup. I also have a 15 round P-3at and two 33 round Glock mags in each of my vehicles and more ammo still in boxes (part of my BOB).
Kel-Tec P-3at, Taurus PT-908, Glock 17, Glock 19, Glock 26, Kel-Tec SUB-2000 9mm (Glock 17 mag compatible),Kel-Tec PF-9, Ruger SP-101 2¼ barrel hammerless, Maverick Arms 88 Security 8-shot 12 gauge, Marlin 336W .30-30 Win., Rossi Model 92 SRC .357 Mag.
At least one, and most times two....sometimes three....depends. I often carry my S&W 340PD in .357 for back up as well. It doesn't hurt to be prepared.
One extra mag with 17 rounds.

The thing about "defense" is that it has practically nothing to do with guns. (As passed on by CCW9MM)

Always one, sometimes two.
"What are your thoughts and strategy regarding spare magazine carry?"
Always have one in case of the need to clear malfunctions or magazine failure.
God, country, family.
Always one extra mag, two if in Jax, Tampa, Ocala, or Orlando...![]()

I don't carry spare mags. My revolver doesn't use them.

My bad.....was this a poll?
Anyways.........I carry a spare magazine more now than I did before this forum. I actually make it a point to do so. Now....the means and methods may vary at times, but usually I'm carrying a spare mag on my weak side in an OWB mag holster. Then again there's back pocket of jeans carry, coat pocket carry, etc......just so long as a spare is immediately within my grasp is a good thing.
Array
One spare mag (minimum, all the time)...in case the one in my gun fails and need a spare.
One is none, two is one.
Plus a cell phone and a Surefire light...
Magazine <> clip - know the difference

I don't carry any spares at all in normal circumstances. I can barely make it dragging around the tiny little thing that is a Beretta 21A, without having to carry around a spare mag.
Out and about? None, or possibly one extra magazine, weak side front pocket (though if I had a proper mag pouch I would - haven't made one yet and can't afford one). Church? Two magazines. Um... for the pistol - not for reading if I get bored.
