On this forum, there have been over 100 posts discussing *what* they would have done... the potential errors that the office made during the encounter... or demonizing Piazza for posting it as a sales pitch.

Videos like this or the one of Constable Darrel Lunsford in Texas are used by LEO's across the nation bring awareness on what can happen during an encounter.

I would be willing to bet that many of those who have seen the video have paused to examine their own limitations and capabilities. If you haven't... SHAME ON YOU!
There is an extreme difference between using a video as a learning tool much like police academies do and making money off of a tragety for personal gain. Are you unable to see the difference?

Actually... yes I'm acutely aware of the difference. However, the fact is that I haven't seen this video until this thread started. I don't give a rat about who started it or for what reason... but I look at this as a reality check and an opportunity to learn from it.

So, they showed their disgust by taking steps to remain as unprepared as the cop?

    I HAVE A RANT!

There has been quite a bit of negative comments on Dr. Piazza on this thread. Yes, he put a rather distasteful video in the mail boxes of people who subscribe to his website. It was said before, if you cant handle it or think its wrong no one is forcing you to watch! Dr. Piazza is trying to make a buck, but as I said before he also DOES care about your education. Not everyone can go to a police academy and get the same training. Not that everyone needs that full training but if you carry a firearm you might want to know why! Front Sight is not a police academy or anything like it. Its for civilians who desire more training in the use of carrying a firearm and defending themselves. This video although disturbing, screams at me to seek more intense training, even though I have been shot at many times and I DO know exactly how I respond. Carrying a firearm and thinking defensively is a diminishing skill. Training and practice makes perfect so WHEN something like this happens, it will be more muscle memory and not so much thinking "oh CRAP! WHAT DO I DO? I know! SCREAM LIKE A LITTLE BOY!!" Dr. Piazza is just trying to make a dollar and educate the uneducated. He is just like the rest of you, he does have a brain housing group that is just as sensitive as yours. He knows exactly what he is doing and he is not the first to use this video like that I am sure. No one is making you watch the video or pay money to Dr. Piazza. If people do end up going to Front Sight because of this video than its a good thing because they recognize the need for more training. Withdrawing their membership or reservations just means they are closed minded and unprepared as that cop.

SIDE NOTE: I go to Front Sight to brush up on my training and tactics. I have been in combat (Operation Phantom Fury, Fallujah Nov. 2004 with 1stBN, 8thMARINES) and I am also a personal defense instructor who teaches everything (including CCW) that has to do with personal protection. That should tell you what kind of range, instructors, and school Front Sight is. Dr. Piazza started it all and has requested myself many times to join his team. I decline only because I want to teach the people who cannot afford his high rates and I cannot really relocate to Nevada. His rates may be high but, its worth every penny. If you can afford it GO! it is unlike anything you have ever experienced.

+1 - I find this transparent marketing tactic utterly disgusting.

I don't understand the appeals process. He was clearly caught on tape in the act of murder. Case closed.
I hope the exact same thing, sir.

Well said, sir. Thank you for your contribution in helping the common man become more educated on what I think most of us here would deem "critical life skills".
