Years ago while I was in USAF I was assigned to a SAC base. I knew I was in for a heck of an assignmet when I had to do fill in the paperwork for a TS/SBI background check. Been there, done that! lol

I guess my question would be what type of security clearance, and would they even know if you had a ccw permit. Perhaps this falls under "Don't ask, dont tell".

Have both and have no problems. I am however ALWAYS "delayed" for instant check and have had several FFLs ask if I have a clearance. According to the FFLs I have spoken to, the fact that you have been investigated by the feds does show up and can cause the intant check to required some more checking. Usually an hour or two later I get approved.

I too get delayed when making any purchase, but I've never attributed it to having a TS but rather having a pretty common first and last name. But the clearance makes sense too (and I'm just about to go up for renewal not to long from now). Hmm.

That's strange I'm always delayed. Usually 70 minutes on the dot.

Like I said, the FFLs I've spoken too say it's fairly routine for someone with a clearance to be delayed...your name is in some magical place as having a file with the feds or some other Orwellian crap like that.

Go ahead and get your permit. If your security clearance is Federal, then it won't matter. If your security clearance is private, for a private company, then it shouldn't matter. If it does count against you, then the company probably isn't a good fit for you, anyway.
