Got the email back from the gal working at the CCW permit office and she stated she doesnt have access to CCW info for other counties, just our own.

Now I'm curious as to how many permits are currently active here in Colorado. Maybe those of us who live here could call or email our CCW office at the Sheriff's office and request the info and post it back here. El Paso County is already done as seen at the start of this thread.

    Wha?

Found this article from Indianapolis Star, stating their permit rate of 15 per 1000 is second only to New York State's ratio. What?!

I live in New York State and know there are more permits here than commonly thought but FIRST in the nation? (Article is old but still....).

(By the way, all permits in NY are Carry Permits - counties are allowed, as County Ordinances, not State Gun Law - to place restrictions on permits (Target only etc.). Some do, some don't, some are temporary)

    300,000 Hoosiers have gun permits
Indiana second only to New York in number per 1,000 adult residents, Star survey shows

In May, when pizza deliveryman Ronald B. Honeycutt was confronted by a gun-toting robber, he drew his own 9 mm and pulled the trigger, pumping more than 10 bullets into the Indianapolis man, killing him.

Two months before, when a neighbor came after Daniel L. Floyd with an ax handle, the Johnson County man fired his 9 mm handgun, sending one bullet into the neighbor's neck and two into his torso. The man died.

Like 300,000 other Hoosiers, the two men had permits to carry handguns in public. In neither case were charges filed.

Nearly one in 15 Indiana adults have gun permits, which they can get once they turn 18 -- and without going through any training. The state is second only to New York in the number of gun permits per 1,000 adults.

The last figures from the NY State Police that I saw in print concerning New York State handgun permits gave a figure well in excess of 800,000. That was back about 9-10 years ago. It may have gone up since then and I am sure it has..

    hmmm........

800,000 out of about 18 or 19 million at that time would give somewhere between 4% and 5% back then. Now population is about same and handgun ratio I also am certain has gone up. Maybe 5% to 6% currently?.... Wonder what the national average is.

Where did you get the figures by the way back then, I've been looking all over the place. Was it from LooseLeaf?

The percentage of Concealed Carry License holders in PA is very high.
I heard PA had the highest % per total State population in the U.S.

Somebody will need to verify that though.
