Majorlk asked I'm old and dense, despite have been shooting for 40+ years. What does the above quote mean?
It's a restatement of Murphy's Law If you only have one it will fail leaving you W/ none. If you have two one will fail leaving you W/ one.

    In short, bring a spare

One is none two is one. Is used by special forces as a rule for thier eqipment. If you only have one and it fails you have none. If you have two and one fails you still have one.
    I hope that helps?

    Rules for CC

    1. Do not do stupid things. (Keep yourself out of bad situations. Stupid arguements, Road rage and making threats.)

2.Do not go to stupid places. (If you don't go to the bad parts of town. Or to places known for trouble, without a gun. Don't go there because you have one now.)

    3. Do not hang out with stupid people. (Friends, girl friends, or family that start trouble. People that tell everyone you have a gun. And try to use you as a threat.)

All of the above rules go for friends and family. I have several friends and family members that fall into at least one or more of the above groups. And I am positive I am not alone.

    GOOD LUCK AND STAY SAFE

The simple act of owning a firearm for self-defense doesn't make you "trained" in self-defense anymore than owning a piano makes you a musician. Training for self-defense doesn't stop at the gun shop sales counter, it starts there!!

When carrying a firearm always remember to make good decisions. In decision making, dumb and angry often go together!

Getting back to training for a sec....

A certificate does not make you certified. Attitude, committment to your training, and committment to yourself and you're family. These and a certificate make you certified.

A gun without a brain behind it is just another paperweight.

I learned the rules this way:

    1)All guns are always loaded
2)Never point a gun at anything you do not wish to destroy
3)Keep your finger off the trigger untill you are ready to fire
4)Be sure of your target and what is behind it

If I were to add another rule it would be this:

    5)Guns are not toys

And that means Guns as a hobby is not like having a boat, going fishing, intramural sports, motorcycles or any other typical "man toy" They are not toys at all and should be respected and revered. 100% concentration 100% of the time and no horsing around with guns because it will get you killed. Is it fun? It sure as hell is, but the moment you have too much fun is the moment you have an accident so stay sharp and dont get too comfortable.

"Always drink upstream of the herd" Doesn't have anything to do with shooting and guns; I just like the advice.

One piece of advice which can be applied to carrying a weapon comes from Norman Schwartzkopf, "Get mad. Then get over it."
