ccw permit going to my old address what to do?

live in Indiana and i applied for my ccw but i just recently moved to a different unit still in the same building, also my old roommate still lives there so i could still access the mail. I was wondering do i just wait for the ccw to come then let the state know my address changed or call now and try and straighten out now? I had to move because i was waiting for a bigger apartment and when it became available i had to jump on it

See if the post office can forward future mail in your name to your new address?

Depending upon your state, your permit may be valid only while you are at the address of record. Simply changing the apartment number may be sufficient to invalidate the permit. I'd recommend contacting the issuing agency and advise them of the change.

That's good advice. Didn't even think of that.

What does Indiana law say about address changes??

    See: handgunlaw.us

    From the Indiana FAQs:
My name or address has changed. Do I have to pay for a duplicate license?

No. Complete the “Duplicate Handgun License Request and Notification of Name or
Address Change Form” and mail or fax the form to the firearms section. Check that you
are notifying the section of your information change only. The change will be made in
the firearms database and there is no fee for this service. If you want a license issued
with the changes on it, then yes, the $20 fee for the duplicate license does apply.

Sounds like a very simple fix to me. Keep yourself legal.

And make sure your mailman knows you moved to a different apartment and to be on the lookout for that envelope :-)

Put in a change of address notice at the Post Office first, then when you get it, have it corrected.
