Wife and I mailed our TN HCP renewal forms on 12/29/09 and received our new HCP's yesterday 02/06/10 for a total of 37 days mail box to mail box! Good job Nashville. This puts us well in front of our 3RD week in March expiration dates.

I applied on 12/26/2007 and got mine on 02/06/2008. Apparently, the state has added a permit office in Memphis to serve only Shelby County. That has helped a lot.

I applied for my renewal the day after the election in 2008 and had to have my state senator light a fire under the bureaucrats to get it back before the experation date. I could have used the reciept as the permit in Tennessee but I was traveling in and out of the state and wanted my HCP.
You can thank the Memphis Commercial Appeal and The Tennessean they scrutinized the list and found a dozen or so out of 290,000 that had questionable backgrounds and the state gave in to the pressure and began to take their sweet time on renewals. According to state law new permit holders have to be processed within 90 days but renewals can take as long as the bureaucrats want.
