    Gen4 Glock Thoughts and Opinions

I already own a Glock 19. It's a great pistol. I am left handed and have no issues manipulating the mag release. In the future I'd like to get a second G19. I am considering the Gen 4 (coming out soon), but the parts are not interchangeable and the mags of the 3rd gen will not work with the Gen 4 mag release switched to the right side of the grip. As appealing as the idea of an ambi mag release sounds, since I already own and am familiar with the Gen 3 (as well as having a bunch of mags), I am leaning to stick with the 3rd Gen. Would appreciate your thoughts and opinions.

    Thanks

I know I'm not running out to get a 4th generation Glock. Completely happy with my 3rd generations. I'm glad we're taking a Glock Armorers course in a couple of weeks. I'll have plenty of questions for them on the 4th gen models.

I'm not interested in any 'new' generation Glocks...I'll keep what I have.
I take my Glock Armorer's Course in two weeks, and maybe I'll learn something of value about the 4th generation then.

I'm not in any hurry either. Virtually all of the Gen 4 changes are unnecessary for me. I do, however, believe that they will help GLOCK increase market share. All those folk who say GLOCK's just don't fit them!

if the 3rd gen works for you why change and/or buy a 4th gen. unless you want a new gun. i might pick up one to play around with it.

To me it's a wise move on Glock's part with the Gen 4. Why not address those who say the grip doesn't fit their hand or are a lefty? It only makes sense.

I'm not sure I care for the RTF grip finish. I picked up an early model of it and it felt way too rough. I don't have a problem with the Gen 3 finish. The dealer said that there had been complaints with the prototype test guns, that some officers complained the RTF wore holes in the uniforms, and that Glock was going to tone the roughness down a bit. I'll have to feel the final production grip to decided on that.

Buying new mags for a Gen4 shouldn't be an issue. If you bought a S&W or XD or any other make, you couldn't use you old mags either.

I have no interest in any Glock, no matter which generation it is.

I'm not going to get rid of the 3rd Gens I have but I'm sure I'll pick up a 4th Gen eventually. I do like the subdued RTF and finger grooves a bit better. Thankfully, it is still a Glock and they didn't try to change too much.

I'm not a huge Glock fan , I only own one but... I want to try a gen-4!
I might get a G-23 when they're available and once their prices settle down.

I handled one the other day at local gun store I just discovered. The thinner backstrap was nice, if you need it. The ambi mag-release was nice, if you need it.

I was much more interested in the Class III items he had for sale...
