I wonder what would happen if you respond to the joking "Your not going to shoot me are you?" comment with "Well, I guess it depends on if your going to give me a ticket!"

Is that like "What's the bag limit and where do I get a license for the 'Tourist Season?' "?

He could see it was working. So no need for the stop.
Maybe could have followed a tad longer to make sure it was working.

Sounds like an excuse to pull you over, and another example of inappropriate fishing.

Yes, it is possible he was trying to be helpful. But, having seen the light work, I don't see why the stop was made.
As Cougergirl...I mean Rugergirl said, she turned the corner AFTER his lights came on. That's when he could see that it was working. By then, it's a little late to not make the stop, don't you think?

By the way Rugergirl, I LOVE the new avatar!

I sure wouldn't want to be the one to find out.

If you spend time at Double Action in Madison Heights on Sunday afternoons, you probably have.

    Glad it went well, RugerGirl.

The last time I got pulled over, I went to jail.

    On Halloween Night.

    Dressed like a hooker.

My mug shot is rather embarrassing.

I'd pay money to see that.

BTW, you need LEO-interaction lessons from Cugergirl.

Those lights have an off switch. He could have turned off the lights, stepped on the brakes, and signaled for her to keep going. Or, turned off the lights, signaled her to continue, and followed for a few hundred yards to make sure the lights were really working.

See, the thing is, he continued to do something even though he knew his initial decision was incorrect.

Not taking any sides but as a licensed NYS motor vehicle inspector, I have seen many vehicles with intermittent electrical problems with lights. It is very possible to have them not work one second and work the next.

All it takes is a bad ground, bad filament, short or a host of conditions that could cause it.

I honestly forgot to tell a cop, during a traffic stop, that I was carrying concealed. He reminded me that I was supposed to do so. He knew because it came up on his laptop when he ran my license plate. No, I did not tell him who I was or who I knew.
