I do not believe SC is reciprocal with KY and if it not you still can carry in your car loaded in either the glove box or console no lock required. You are also good from your car to your rental property.

So, if I understand the above, it is not "illegal". Yes, you can be removed from the premises, but that can happen for any reason (or no reason at all), and doesn't need to be firearm related.
Carrying of a concealed weapon, or ammunition, or both in a location specified in this subsection by a license holder shall not be a criminal act but may subject the person to denial from the premises or removal from the premises
