just over 6foot tall and under 200. Never a problem. Generally just wear a t-shirt tucked in.
as I have read life is to short to carry an ugly gun. And well, it just works.

I find carrying a 1911 no different than carrying any other handgun, it is all in what you get use to and how you carry. Just my 2 cents.

IWB...Straight drop...3 position
I wear a full size 1911 everyday all day everywhere.
Key is clothing as in how you dress and body awareness.
Items that you need to work out and understand while as at home _before_ taking step one outside. But then this is no different for any other model/type handgun as carried on body be it a 1911, fullsize, moderate, compact or a revolver.
My largest gun is a full size all stainless Sig GSR 1911 w/rail that as loaded with an 8 rd. magazine weighs 3 lbs.
I wear it all day as concealed without an issue, four seasons.

I'm carrying a fullsize Springfield Mil-Spec in a Galco Jackass shoulder holster, under a zip-up hoodie as we speak. I'm 5'11 / 190-ish. It doesn't work very well in the summer, but 3 seasons out of the year, it's excellent.
I've heard very good things about the Crossbreed SuperTuck and intend to get one for summer carry.
Peace,

I usually use a cheap IWB for my GI 45 or a minimal OWB leather one when I know I am going to leave my coat on. It isn't the most comfortable but it is meant to be comforting, not comfortable.
I am heading to St. Louis tomorrow and I plan in having "Pride with Prejudice" (yes I named my gun, deal with it) with me. I usually carry my Little one but it broke the other day. It will be in the cheap IWB. I really need a supertuck. :)

I found a Cross Draw holster helps in concealing my Full size 1911 if positioned properly you can make the butt of mag almost disappear with proper shirt Remember the key here is a quality belt and holster my Cross Draw holster is from Mernickle and is a great holster that doesn't break the bank!An xtra Mag is always smart but is much easier to be reached if it's positioned on same side as holster!Blance out your belt with something other then your mags, just my opinion.

I agree with Jang, much of it is how you dress. I carry IWB and OWB, depends on mood, and clothing etc. Using a good belt and holster is wise.

Milt Sparks
The ABSOLUTE BEST way to carry a full size 1911 is in a Milt Sparks VM2-HS. It is a IWB holster with FBI cant. The only downfall is the six month wait to get one as they custom make each one for your specific weapon. Milt Sparks Holsters

Another vote for the Crossbred Super Tuck.
I had a bobtail installed on one of my 1911's that helps some to.

Milt Sparks Holsters
Brownell's usually has some Milt Sparks stuff in stock. And they are on ebay from time to time if you don't want to wait. Personally, I think they should hire more help and fulfill their orders in a reasonable time frame. The fact that they don't is enough to keep me spending my cash elsewhere.
