    1911 concealment

Full size 1911s are tough to conceal because of the long grip and sharp corner on the grip - it tends to stick out and print on your cover garment, especially if you bend forward.

I think the best way to mitigate this grip problem is to use a 1911 with an officer's length grip and a holster that cants the gun forward. One of the "bobtail" grip treatments on a regular length grip will also help. I personally favor a short barrel 1911 with an officer's grip, such as the Colt Defender. I find this easy to conceal in a high riding Kramer holster with a cover garment worn outside the belt, such as a sweater, sweatshirt or t shirt. I don't have any printing problems with the setup shown below:

How awkward is the draw stroke from a holster with that much cant? I imagine it must be rather unnatural and would require quite a lot of practice to become proficient.

I find the 1911 to be amongst the easiest gun to wear but it requires a good holster and belt to get it done. If those basic criteria are met and your mode of dress is a compliment to concealed carry then keeping your business private isn't difficult at all. OTOH if your trying to conceal a 1911 under a shirt that closely fits to the body, no amount of cant or custom gear will help the gun to disappear. The gun, holster, belt, and mode of dress must be coordinated with the overall goal in mind of keeping your weapon a private matter in order to do it successfully.

Pictures didn't work but I did look it up. Nice, just have to get used to the finish.
