It won't change 'em, but it will make me feel better.
The article was an interesting read. Of course there's gonna be some crazies in any sizable population, such as the story told. I'd be interested to know if you applied your skill to the per capita rate of these permit holder murders to non permit holders what the result would be. Since that data includes statistics summed from multiple years I'd wager it would be a story in National Rifleman about how less likely permit holders are to murder than the general population.

(I made that statistic up, but it's only fair since the article cited invented their own figures, too....)

There is something about firing 4,200 thirty millimeter rounds/min that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

    Texas numbers

According to the Texas DPS web site statistics for 2008 (the most recent ones they have) there are more than 314,000 CHL holders in the state. By the same token, there are (for all practical purposes) few or no CHL holders in the D.C. area. On another web site that posted gun deaths as a percentage of population, D.C. has a rate 3 times higher (check it here Firearms Death Rate per 100,000 by state. Definition, graph and map.)
I guess that having concealed weapons around REDUCES gun violence, not raises it.

They are reaching, they need to cover off 3 years to get that number, out how many million gun owners? also they included an accidental discharge and they don't actually say if the scumbag that killed 8 people recently had a CCW or not, but they include his killing in their figures without stating he had a CCW.

When some of the cases were reviewed and researched by independent sources, it was found that in many cases... the people were NOT licensed "conceal carry". They were just carrying concealed illegally. They slant things the way they want the stats to look. They also count "defensive shootings".

Well, my initial opinion of him after reading the OP was that he was a fraud.

    First impression is usually correct.

Here is what I think of the Post, Sugarmann, and that article. Of course the image depicted is what all anti's quiver in their panties over though! Double whammy!
