Seriously...don't hold your breath.
May I ask what you told them your reason for carrying is?
Vermont does not issue Permit/Licenses to Carry a Concealed firearm. Vermont allows anyone
who can legally own a firearm to carry it concealed without a permit of any kind.
all lawful purpose and protection of life

Might be a long wait then. Like til the state of Mass thinks your life is worth protecting.
It Depends on the Town in MA
LTC's are decided by each local PD
If the Chief and his issuing officer are lenient
you stand a fair chance
But you may get a limited LTC the first issue
On the other hand if the Chief is real restrictive
forgetaboutit
I had my MA LTC from 1980 - 2003 then I moved south
JUST as the new more restrictive laws went into effect
Guns per 1000 residents by town in MA
Yep. It all depends on what town you live in. Mass is a "may issue" state. The local PD Chief has final say on who gets one. Like Jeff mentioned, if he/she is more lenient and typically allows permits you may have a fair shot. If you live someplace like Boston..... no one gets it.
You actually have a better chance of getting an out-of-state permit which goes throught the State Police than you have of getting an in-state if you llive in a more restricted area.
Good luck though. I hope you can at least get something.

<----My LT was unhappy that I did not have my PASS-Tag at that fire. But I found the body so he said he would overlook it. :)
You should have no problems at all...

Guide to gun rights in your Massachusetts town
Good luck, hopefully you live in a green town. Even then it can take up to 12wks depending on back log.![]()

If it's as hard as I'm hearing for a direct Mass permit - maybe find another state that allows a non-resident permit that has Mass in it's list - or - see if you can get on as a Reserve Police Officer somewhere and let your PD ID be your permit via H.R. 218
For God, Family and Country!
Mass honors no other states carry permit.
The misconception is Mass is totally anti-gun/pistol permit, only in a few towns and the city of Boston.
As a Mass resident I have fewer restrictions on my carrying than most gun-friendly states. What does stink about Ma. is the restrictions on what I can carry.![]()

as far as time and acceptence what town you are in matters but your race is going to matter alot too, sad to say. dispite the aperance of mass as being a progressive post rasism liberal utopia, if you are not white it is going to take longer and will be more likley to be denied. i lived in Mass before i moved to NYC and bouth my parents obtained LTC's
I just received my un-restricted class A in Natick. Took about 5 weeks from the day I submitted my form. Depending on where you live, they might limit your license. This is the first time I applied, and I had good references (know the Chief), so I didn't have any problem. If you don't have a history, they have to issue you a license, just not a LTC.
I've carried a handgun since I was 18 years old. Military Police then State Police. Have had a DE CCDW since I retired from the State Police.
That was ok until I recently retired from my second profession, Security Manager for a DuPont Research Facility. Now that I am retired my DE CCDW does not serve my purpose as we intend to travel the country. I'm in the process of getting the National HR 218 permit for active LEO and retired LEO's which is recognized nationwide. Still will have a lot of different State Laws to become familiar with.
Wish you well with your cc process, hope you have a favorable outcome.
