    perishable ammunition

I was recently informed via a conspiracy chat off I was witness to, that there is a concern that ammunition being sold is different, or will soon be different. That something has been / will be placed in the ammunition to make it perishable.

Just wondering if anyone else has heard that or run into problems?

I can't imagine that any reputable ammunition manufacturer would dare risk their reputation to do something so undeniably stupid. What would be the benefit of it?

Seems a little far fetched to me. I haven't noticed any differences in anything.

Its been tried and thus far, unless they came up with something new, it made the ammo unstable.

Several states mentioned enacting legislation that required it at one time, but back then it was found to be unfeasible.

It was first mentioned during the Clinton administration.

Of course, that is not to say that the Liberals and Socialists would love nothing better than to have ammunition that "expires". Invent that, and technically you skirt every constitutional issue that ever involved guns or self defense.

Federal does have a non-lead, non-toxic, lead-free primer product for indoor range use that has a "best performance if used by" date on it.

None of the components are (according to Federal) available to the public, nor will they be used in any other ammo except this "niche" product.

Would you buy Company "X"'s product if it suddenly had a perishable date? That would be bad for business.

I can just see the case now..."well ladies and gentleman of the jury, the estate of the recently deceased plaintiff is asking Acme Ammunition Company to pay a settlement of forty million dollars for his wrongful death. Had it not been for the ammunition that was intentionally rendered ineffective by Acme, the plaintiff may well have survived the carjacking and be alive and well today"
