    Lake City Ammo

I have some surplus ammo, I purchased in the late 90s manefactured from what I was told by the Lake City Arsenal. It is 5.56, and some of the cases have small dings in it, and they are all packaged loosely in boxes of 300 rounds. While I know it is safe to shoot, and it shoots very well, I am curious about the ammos origin. Does anyone know anything about Lake City Arsenal?

Should be stamped LC on the heads. I've reloaded tons of their stuff back in my .223 days. Never had a problem. LCA made a lot of ammo for the military.

Are the "dings" ejection dents? Could be reloads.

No they are not reloads. Looks like original mil spec loads that I used to use in the Corps. You know how they used to pick up all the unused ammo after a training exercise? Thats what it looks like. Can you tell me a little bit about the LCA? Are they still in business? Thanks for the input so far, I am planning on reloading these after I shoot them up.

Lake City Arsenal is the government's ammunition manufacturing facility. It is contracted to be operated by ATK (Alliant Tech Systems) and the employees running it are Federal Ammunition employees.
