    9mm CC SD ammo

I'm looking for a new ammo to carry in my 9mm's. I have a Glock 19 and a Sig P228 - both have 4" barrels. I haven't bought new SD/HD ammo since around 1992. Back then I bought a bunch of what I liked at the time - PMC StarFire 124 gr. I still have some left but thought that I would upgrade to some of the new modern ammo out there. Both guns are reliable and will shoot +P ammo. My wife carries the Glock and shoots it well but I thought that I might keep milder standard pressure loads for her. I was thinking of staying with something in the 124-127gr. range (or a good 115 gr.). Don't care for slow/heavy 147 gr. stuff. What's the best +P and the best non+P out there now? I was thinking of trying 124 grain Speer Gold Dots or maybe Winchester Ranger-T's in +P and Federal Tactical 124 grain standard pressure. Any thoughts?

I was in the market for the same thing for my Glock 19 a few months back. I went with 124 gr Speer Gold Dots and love them. i have never heard bad things about them and they were always highly recommended by forum members. My local police departments carry Speer Gold dots too so that was another reason.

I was carrying the 124gr. Gold Dots but recently picked up a box of Winchester Supreme Elite Bonded PDX1 Personal Protection 124gr. +P at Academy. I wanted a +P round. (They must be good...look how complex the name is.)

    I carry Gold Dot 124 +P in my G26
These have a proven track record and will be a step up from PMC StarFire.
give them a try and also watch this video .

Is this because it doesn't feed well in your guns?
Slow and heavy also describes the much revered .45acp.
Perhaps I'm mistaken, but if it's giving good expansion, the extra grains will improve performance.

Please let me know if its a feed issue for the Glock, I don't wanna buy a bunch for my G26 only to find out the added length causes them to try to load sideways.

In 9mm, I prefer Corbon DPX - 115 gr. +p. My second choice would be Speer GDHP in the 124 +p load.

There's nothing wrong with the new 147gr 9mm's...in fact, Winchester recommends their 147gr loads in the short-barreled 9mm's as they tend to give better penetration while keeping good expansion.

In short...your G26 will feed 'em just fine (mine did...).

The Speer rounds are great, as are the Corbon DPX. I have started carrying Hornady Critical Defense and have been very happy with the way they perform.

I've recently been using Double Tapp 147 +P in my CZ 75D PCR. Functions well and accuracy is great. Still using 115 grain Hornady Critical Defense in my Kahr PM9.

I was trying to find someone who has these and found that there are 3 options for 124 grain 9mm Gold Dots.

    23611 - 124+P (short barrel) 1150 fps fired from 3.5" barrel
    23617 - 124+P 1220 fps fired from 4" barrel
    23618 - 124 1150 fps fired from 4" barrel

It appears that the short barrel +P has the same velocity/energy as the non+P standard 124 grain ammo. I ordered some #23618 to check out.
