What the heck is wrong with my winchester .45?

This is a discussion on What the heck is wrong with my winchester .45? within the Defensive Ammunition & Ballistics forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; Check out the height of the 5 rounds on the right. Is the lack of height a concern? Will winchester replace these?...

I just came across some threads that addressed this issue of set back. I would say these rounds have been cycled 3-4 times. I will relegate the defective rounds to getting the powder out and lighting it. haha

I will probably switch to some type of +p ammo anyway. although pictures of the expanded winchester bonded JHP pdx1 (?) look amazing and consistent.

whats the deal on Magtech JHP +p?

There's nothing particularly wrong with the ammo. Minor variations in OAL are not at all uncommon and will have negligible effect upon performance.

They are set back (especially the last one on the right) and should not be fired.

Will Winchester replace these? - Nope...probably not.

I have seen the same thing with others manufactures as well.....it appears to be set-back. BUT....they didn't come out of the box that way! They have been cycled thru a firearm.

I see this happen more often with nickel plated cases than brass. However, I like the nickel cases better for reloading (plus they're 'prettier'....).

The one on the right should not be shot, the case pressure could be to high & rupture & cause all sorts of mean, nasty, ugly things to happen!
