    ballistic test 40 cal

    I did some expansion test on 3 different ammo:
    Winchester pdx1 165 grain
    federal hydrashok 180 grain
    federal hydrashok 135 grain
    the best penetration was the hydrashok 180 grn

    Nice trio! Makes sense that the heavier bullet penetrated more. Expansion was impressive in all 3.

    With all due respect, virtually any JHP of any caliber moving over about 800 fps will do that to a water jug. I've done it with CCI MiniMag HPs.

    I did the same with 380 hydrashok and the jug never got destroyed like with the .40 , is a big different on damaged,

    PDX-1 and PMC Starfire JHPs are all I can get around here on a regular basis, and my LGS only has 2 boxes of PMC left. However, I counted 35 boxes of .45 ACP 230gr PDX-1 at one of the local wallyworlds today. Well 34 now, my dad picked a box up for me when he was getting some 9mm tonight.

    From what I can see it's essentially a re-marketed Ranger-T, looks to be the same bullet and expands in a pretty similar way. Heck, if it's good enough for the FBI then it's good enough for me!

    isn't the pdx the bonded equivalent ranger? Did it have any hooks or talons on the backside?

    the T-ranger got more expansion
