Any proven 230gr JHP that your 245 likes, such as:

    230gr Gold Dot
    230gr Ranger-T
    230gr HST

Or any of these: Best Choices for Self Defense Ammo

ETA: I'd stay, far, far away from the Hornady "Critical Defense"...mainly because any ammo designed specifically to not meet the FBI penetration minimum would, imho, be a terrible choice.

I have Speer Gold Dot in both 230 and 185...I feel comfortable with either.

My school of thought is hit them with the biggest and heaviest chunk of lead you can handle.

I carry Gold Dot 230s in my G30. But in all honesty, I don't think the BG would laugh off a 185 grainer or a 9mm/.40/.357 SIG/etc. in any respectable caliber.

A CorBon guy over at warrior talk suggests one of their lite cartridges, like 165 gr., for short 45s. This mainly to lighten recoil. Reduces ballistic results to lower caliber ranges. So if you can handle full power recoil, go with the flying ashtray (230).

I like 230 gr HST's and 230 gr GD's, but I usually carry the GD's. Most of the police jurisdictions around here use Gold Dot's. If I'm ever on the stand and the prosecutor booms out "Why were you using those evil man-killing bullets", I can reply "Hey, It's the same round that the Police Dept. uses".

I'm sorry, but I'm a lawyer and think about things like that.
