I have found great prices from Cabela's and Amazon, also!
I do everything the voices in my wife's head tell me to do!

Impossible is not a word. It's just a reason for someone not to try!

Six months ago the exact item was $1.50 at Dollar General. Today at Dollar General it's still $1.50/can. They must think we're dummies.
no...they dont think your a dummy...they want to increase their profit margin and they know a certain number of people will continue to shop with them because they are a convenient one stop all your needs center...youll spend more than you save pulling into the dollar general, parking and restarting your car than you would to pay the extra at walmart...but i'm sure its the principle and not the money...

its a gamble any retailer takes and they know what theyre doing...just in case you are unaware they do pretty well...

Oh, sorry. They "carry" .45 but they just happen to be out on the day you stop by. Regardless of what day that might be.
Same here. My WM hasn't had 45 in over a year. There's a spot on the shelf for it, complete with updated prices. But no boxes - ever. If you're looking for 9mm or 40 S&W, then you're always in luck. But otherwise, nope. Even .22 isn't always there. They usually have those pricey boxes of CCI, but the 500-550 bulk packs aren't always there either. Where is all the ammo? Are people still hoarding? Is no one making it any more?

I lost patience after 20 months of this.

Yep, same here; a perpetually empty spot on the shelf. I don't know why they bother.

That's why I never have and never will go to Wal-mart to buy ammo. And, too many people too and it is a cesspool in some locations.

Wal*Mart has raised prices because the dollar is dropping.
Notice gold is now $1340 an oz? Gold is stable, it just takes more dollars to buy it.

I always find it funny when people are all "Capitalism is great!" and then turn around and hate on Walmart.

I don't recall anyone bashing or slighting capitalism in this thread... only Wal-Mart's current pricing policy and some locations' chronic inability to keep shelves stocked with common calibers.

I know of few people who saw those two things; typically it's one or the other. Besides, capitalism is great. It is competition, and people like us coming on here and sharing what we perceive to be abuse by the current "top dog" can lead to a competitor overtaking them with better pricing policies, etc. Long live capitalism.

Well I just HAVE to celebrate. Our WM was suddenly STOCKED UP on ammo tonight, and for the first time in the last 3 months they actually had some hollowpoints

Too bad I spent all my money on that new .22, but I still cheated and got a couple of boxes on my Discover card. Gotta strike while it's hot, I can pay the bill off while the WM ammo shelves are empty....

My Walmart the 40 cal is not cheaper than the 9mm. The 40 cal is cheaper than the 38 Special though. They just recently started to keep the 38 Special in stock, after I purchased 400 rounds online.

Eaxctly, compare the price of say toilet paper at Walmart to 7-11. Yikes! With 7-11 you are paying heftily for the "convience" or being able to run in and be back out in less than 5 minutes. (minus any robbery/gunman scenarios of course, )

I agree. If my LGS has ammo as cheap, I'd buy it there, they dont, so I dont.
Even with the $1 increase it's still WAY cheaper than i can get at my LGS.

Walmart is still the cheapest in my area. mine is same as you, same price, same rise in price.

There is one near me that just started carrying this new ammo that was in a black box with yellow lettering. that was 9.47

I also FINALLY found some Remi UMC .380 JHP 100 box for 33 bux or something. got the last 2 boxes.
