Grouping Comparisons - XD-40 SC Vs. XD-40 Compact
Okay all you XD owners out there, how much of a difference am I going to see between the sub-compact and the compact when it comes to groupings? I currently have a sub-compact and while when I put it on paper its not half-bad I still wonder just how much leverage the compact would have over it.
Thanks

At self defense ranges? I would think very little. With longer shots (say anything over 15 yards) I think the extra sight radius will start to make a bigger deal. I don't own a XDc and XDsc but I have owned a Glock 19 and Glock 26 which are pretty much the direct comparisons to the XD line in terms of size. I noticed very little difference in grouping under 15 yards but when I ran targets out past that the groups did open up a bit more with 26 as opposed to the 19.

food for thought
While this is not the same gun I do offer this just for some good information. I carry a XDM 9MM 4.5 and was training at FAS in WA. I shoot fairly well with my carry gun. I had the opportunity to shoot a XDM 9MM 3.8 on the same range and my shot group went smaller. I feel it is because the gun fits my hand better and really did not have as much to do with barrel length. At least not in this situation. This coming Monday I am buying a XDM 9MM 3.8 for a second carry gun. The rubber only will hit the road when you have the opertunity to fire both guns. I do hope this gives food for thought and taken in the spirit given.
