    +P+ rounds in Kahr P9?

    Hello everybody,

I recently purchased a P9, and made a successful break-in period trip to the range last weekend. I've combed through the manual a few times, and maybe I'm just too tired from work crap all day, but I can't seem to find anywhere in the manual where it states if +P+ ammo is OK or not. I'd like to run Buffalo Bore +P+ 147 Grain JHP for DC. Obviously other than the obligatory test rounds, this is not something I plan to cycle very often. I'm currently carrying 115 Grain Critical Defense. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks
    DB

I can't offer the precise advice you're looking for, but for short-barrelled guns I would skip the 147s and stay with 125-grain range loads... keeps the velocity up where it needs to be.

I have a CW9 (the same gun, but for cosmetics and rifling) and carry Cor-Bon +P 115s... 124 gr FMJs for practice.

    Kahr's guns aren't rated for +P+. They're rated for +P only.

IMO, one of the best rounds for Kahr is the Speer 9mm Luger +P 124 grain (Short Barrel) ammunition. It's a very fast and accurate round. It also won't be dangerous to you or your gun.

I like the others would skip the +P+ and stick with a 124 grian +P or just a standard 124 grain. I am a little partial to golden sabers, but thats just me.

Nobody's guns are rated for +P+ because there is no SAAMI spec for +P+ ammo. Most well-made guns will take factory +P+ because they're proofed at even higher pressures, but it will, as always, accelerate wear.

The Winchester Ranger +P+ is only marginally higher pressure than the +P loadings, IIRC. After all, it's only pushing a bullet three grains heavier to basically the same speed.

I would not use +P+ ammo in the Kahr. I use Ranger 124gr+P in mine.

The Kahr's are definitely not rated for +P+ ammo. Take a step back and use a 124 Gr +P or standard pressure load and you will be fine.

It is possible for a 9mm Kahr to Kaboom, just like this one did:

So while it certainly is not common, it can happen. Fortunately, Kahrs are built quite solid
