Really cheap stuff, I don't know, but in Texas, Academy Sports sometimes uses pistol ammo as a loss leader with great pricing. Better than WM usually.

I'm with you, by the time you pay shipping, it is cheaper to pay sales tax at Wal-Mart

Reloading will be your cheapest alternative.

+1 It is hard to beat Wally World WWB if you add in the shipping Cost.

    Inexspensive practice ammo

Yes, $16.98 for 100 rounds of 40S&W at Wally World is not bad, but that's 17 cents per round. I reload 155/165 gr 40S&W rounds for $8.68 per 100, or less than 9 cents a round. You can't get less expensive ammo unless you steal it.

While it is true that reloading is cheaper overall you still have the start up costs that will make it worth while in the long run but the start up is not what most people look at. On the other hand WalMart does have the best prices if you compare total cost vs online total costs.
In the end Wally world for those that do not reload and of course reloading for those of us that do. This is unless you have your "I do not pay shipping costs" card that is given to you when you go to work on the third tuesday of next week...

i just bought a s/w sigma .40 ve and i love it. holds 15 rounds and hits my hand like a glove,,,,,,,,,, i carried a 4006 s/w for years, and shot master class with that. but hard to beat $ 299 for a great shooting firearm ! except for the trigger pull on the sigma, i would not change a thing. has the best point and aim of any pistol i have ever held. and have been carring them for 26 years. good luck finding a firearm,,,,,,, Andy
