    Shot corrosive ammo today.

I shoot a few hundred rounds through my ak today. What do I look for to tell if my gun is experiencing corrosion. I'm talking early signs. I would want to catch something before its too long.

I ran water through the gun to try and flush out the salts, then ran a number of patches through it. This was with gunzilla. After that I gave it another rinse before spraying it down with oil.

What do i look for to tell if corrosion is occuring?

Was there a better way to clean it?

It's done. Put a fork in it, box it and send it to me. I'll watch it die a slow painful death...

Seriously, corrosive isn't so bad. Just clean it after. No big deal or all those Eastern Bloc countries wouldn't have all those leftover AKs. Just keep cleaning it like you did.

Cool. I gave it a good coating since I cant give it a fuller cleaning for another day or two. I think it should be neutrilized so I dont mind a little carbon in there.

I've always heard windex does a good job of neutralizing it. I'm not sure if it does a better job than water, but that is what I use.

Yep, Windex is your friend if you shoot corrosive ammo. Give the bore a few spritzes from the chamber end, run your Bore Snake thru it, and repeat. Follow that up with regular bore cleaning when you're back at the ranch, at your convenience.

That Commie corrosive ammo is good stuff isn't it? At least in mine, shoots more accurately and has good zip too. If your barrel's chrome lined, don't worry about it, you cleaned it properly. The corrosion is only a problem if you neglect your rifle.
