Remingtion .357 mag. 125 grain softpoints

Bought a box of Rem 125 grain softpoints at walmart yesterday. Tought they were 125 grain hollow points. Did'ent know anyone even offerd softpoints in that weght & caliber. Will my 3 inch SP101 have enough barrel to push that bullet fast enough to expand?

The bullets won't have any issues with expansion. .357s with 2" barrels often have full expansion with the lighter full loads like you have.

    Is it UMC or Express?

I would not count on much expansion, judging from this video. Express might be better.

Only way to know for sure is to try it and see.

I doubt that they will expand much out of a short barrel, but one never can tell until they shoot it at something.

If it hits bone, it'll expand just fine.

I have seen this load jump crimp and tie up more than one gun. Be sure to fire 4 and check the length of the last round. And I doubt it will expand.

Now you have to buy another .357, so you can effectively use this ammo

Take them back, get JHP's. You will get -0- expansion form a pistol with soft points.

Soft points are great for rifles or carbines.
In handguns all it does is make you pay a few extra bucks.
