The Chinese stuff we use to be able to get smelled even worse.

EDIT TO ADD: Now that I think about it, I do remember talk a while back that the Russian stuff smelled worse than it use to. The rumor was that the Russians were using Chinese powder (who knows if that one is true). You may be getting that classic Chinese powder smell. I rotate my ammo, so I don’t think I have shot any newer Russian stuff yet.

Just arrived home from WallyWorld, and the WWB 40S&W ValuePak has jumped another BUCK since Monday. Today it is $17.98+tax. From what I am reading, the price increase is due to Copper prices, the WAR needs of brass, etc.

I only use Speer lawman in my handguns at the range which tends to add up, but it is very clean and consistent ammo....
I also field strip and clean after every firing session, so there's no gunk build up -- sometimes just clean them as therapy, it's great stress relief...
I have a GLOCK 37 (GAP) which I haven't ever cleaned except before the first range trip, it's got 2550 rounds of Speer Lawman and 180 Rounds of Speer Gold Dot without any hiccups at all. I put a drop of CLP on the bbl and a drop on the slide rail groove with the slide locked back after each shooting trip... Kind of my little experiment.....

I just bought several 'discount' boxes to try them out. All purchased from natchezss.com, all. 40 cal.

    Winchester White box. 180 FMJ (50) =10.63
    Federal American Eagle 165Gr FMJ = 8.69
    Remington UMC 165Gr FMJ= 8.79

Curious if they are ALL ok for practice. They are all relatively cheap. I did shoot some CCI blazer @ the range in orlando this weekend. It wasnt the brass, it was the aircraft aluminum non reloadable cases. I dont know much about CCI Blazer except they are pretty cheap.

WWB isn't bad, IMHO. I just shot 100 rds of 9mm today and almost decided not to clean the Glock 26...but I did, anyway. The dirtiest that I've shot so far is Sellier & Bellot, but it's $7/50rds where I am.

That Academy price of $4 looks tempting. Hmmm...maybe my sister-in-law will wait to have her baby until AFTER I get paid...there's an Academy that just opened about a mile from the mother-in-law's. That way I can get enough to last a week or two. ; )

I just came back from wally world and I was amazed at the price jump on the WWB 45.

The other day I paid $19.98 for a 50 round box. Tonight,,, $22.98.

Talk about kicking up the price.

I gotta get me a bench to hurry up and put my Lee to work. LOL...

Go for the 100rd boxes of the wwb at wally world, it's only a couple bucks more than the 50 rnd. It was 19+ for 50 rnd and 21+ for 100rd about a week or so ago.

I thought the new Ft. Smith location for Academy would be open sooner...but it's looks to be later...at least later than my next trip to FS. I'll have to check out one of the Tulsa stores late next week.

I recently bought a case of it on sale, but I'm shooting it up as quickly as I can so I can consistently use Rem UMC or Federal's American Eagle. No real problems the the WWB, I just like the others more.

All I have shot in my XD40 is WWB. My local dealer stirred me away from Wolf. I have a box of Speer gold dot but I have yet to shoot it. I am very pleased with the WWB ammo.

Oh and by the way, I am new to the forum and love it. Thanks for all the great info.

    INDEPENDENCE Ammo

INDEPENDENCE Ammo, found it at Sportsmans Warehouse. Took it home and looked on the box for more on the Mfg. and found Ammunition Accessories Inc.. Googled that and found that it is owned by ATK http://www.atk.com/ parent company of Federal, Speer, and other very BIG companies. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/industry/atk.htm
Anyway it was $8.50/box50, or $17.00/100, same as .40S&W WWB. This stuff is FMJ flat point, and VERY CLEAN, and worked great in my XD-40sc. It is what I use now, and the difference is surprising. Give it a try.
