If I had to guess I would say they are blanks. Anyone know?

They are grenade cartridges, or blanks - what is the caliber?

They are blanks. Looks like the stuff we used in the Army for training exercises.
They will fire in an AR15,but you need a blank adapter that attaches on the end of the barrel that allows the gases to build enough pressure to operate the Bolt Carrier, with all the yahoos down here that celebrate by firing guns in the air at least if ya shoot blanks there is no bullet coming out
They are also used at ceremonies for gun salutes.
