.44 spl: 3 choices

This is a discussion on .44 spl: 3 choices within the Defensive Ammunition & Ballistics forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; I like the Hornady 180 XTP custom load as 1st pick and the WW 200 Silvertip in 2nd place....

    Thanks for the opinions!

Unfortunately, I don't reload. I chose the BB wadcutters for 2 legged & 4 legged species. I walk early in the AM (4:30a) and foxes, deers, etc have been spotted in our neighborhood, so using my pistol is a last ditch option, BUT I LIKE BEING PREPARED FOR BOTH. I also walk with a thick stick, so that's my first line of defense. Keep the DPX in speedloader.

My Charter .44 (old version) hates Gold Dot and shoots it in shotgun patterns rather than groups. It doesn't matter how it looks or performs on paper, or what shoots in somebody else's gun. Mine has Federal LSWCHP in it and I have a box of Critical Defense on order to test.
Try not to screw up so bad they name the screw up after you. (Station 15 saying)

I also have a few boxes of Critical Defense 165gr. .44 spl, I just didn't add that to the list/pic.
