Hornady Zombie rds - What?
I heard a few people talking about these in passing, but never got a clear response. What is up with the Hornady Zombie ammo? I giggled at first with their marketing promos, but I don't understand what is so special about them.

I just wanted some to put on my shelf and show my friends, good for a laugh
And so when man and horse go down beneath a saber keen, or in a roaring charge of fierce melee you stop a bullet clean, and the hostiles come to get your scalp, just empty your canteen, put your pistol to your head and go to Fiddlers green. U.S Army Cavalry

Bought a box for my brother for xmas. I've heard (so don't take it as gospel), that they're the same as Hornady Critical Defense rounds, except for the green tips. The price per round would seem concur; Z-max are a fraction of a cent more per round (Cabelas).

I'd be embarrassed if I was Hornady.

Disclaimer: Hornady® Zombie Max™ ammunition is NOT a toy (IT IS LIVE AMMUNITION), but is intended only to be used on…ZOMBIES, also known as the living dead, undead, etc. No human being, plant, animal, vegetable or mineral should ever be shot with Hornady® Zombie Max™ ammunition. Again, we repeat, Hornady® Zombie Max™ ammunition is for use on ZOMBIES ONLY, and that's not a nickname, phrase or cute way of referring to anybody, place or thing. When we say Zombies, we mean…ZOMBIES

I think it's a clever way of taking advantage of the current zombie craze.
I'll probably buy a box or two once I find out what caliber my Christmas gift is. haha

I think the Zombie ammo is awsome. As an ammo, it's no different than anything else...but it's a cool thought and marketing piece. It's great simply to give as a gift to a "gun-guy". It's sold out all over the place, so even though people make fun of it...it's obviously working for them. I ordered some 12ga just for the heck of it.
When Zombies are real, everybody will be looking for the stuff :-)

I've always struggled with zombie movies in general since I don't understand how they manage to "kill" something that's already dead without it getting right back up again with just another hole or piece missing??
Perhaps Hornady's "Zombie" ammo is just that - already dead. Maybe it's simply all of their returned duds boxed up again in the hope they'll come to life on the next cycle through someone's gun
