    where do you buy your defensive ammo?

    I'm curious to know where everyone buys their defensive ammo? On-line? Local shop? If on-line a link would be nice

    edit: I guess It wouldn't hurt to know what you use...

    I get mine at a local police supply store that also sells to the public. I can get 125gr Speer .357SIG Gold Dots for $18.90 +tax per 50rd box.

    My alternate source is Streichers (as mentioned above), where they have the same for only $19 per 50rd box + shipping.

    I typically get my defensive and practice ammo from one of the dealers at the SAXET Gun Show which is held here in town once a month. My current load of choice is Winchester Ranger SXT 230gr, which can usually be had for about $18/box of 50.

    Online, I've mainly dealt with Cheaper Than Dirt.

    Ditto, often. Online, pricing can be sufficiently better despite the shipping costs to enable a far, far better selection. I purchase (typically) in 1000 to 2000 increments anyway, so it works out for me. Might not for everyone.

    The reason I do it this way is because no single shop near me has a consistent broad selection. Hit and miss isn't for me.
