How many rounds of ammunition do you currently have in your inventory for your carry weapons?

For the purpose of this survey, if you are a reloader, don't count the inventory of supplies that could be turned into additional rounds, but has not been. Count your carry ammo and also your practice ammo.

I prolly have about 600 rounds. Mixed stock of DPX, Gold Dot and a couple others.

One needs to reread the op.

I keep a box or two of carry ammo. The practice ammo is what builds up.

I've got 50 rounds or so for each of my carry ammo, but typically have between 250-500 rounds of range ammo for each pistol or revolver.

My two carry weapons are a Taurus 617 (relatively heavy steel 2" 357 mag revolver) and a Ruger LCR in 357 magnum. I primarily feed the LCR with 38 special +P and reserve the Taurus for 357 magnum. I carry Speer Gold Dot's in both, but I also have some Buffalo Bore rounds and Corbon DPX rounds which I picked up when researching my preferred carry ammo. So I currently have an abundance of carry ammo... close to 200 rounds counting both 38's and 357's.

I reload for range ammo in both guns. I have about 200 rounds of hand loaded 357 and 200 rounds of hand loaded 38 special on hand at the moment.

I've found an hour at the range costs me several hours when I get back home -- clean the gun, clean and de-prime the brass, and reload what I shot. But I gotta practice. My DA trigger pull needs work.

I reload, rule of thumb, 1500 + on hand for all defensive hand guns, I currently have 3200ish rounds on hand for my EDC (EDC and BUG and Wifes all same caliber)(this is not counting defensive rounds only 150ish of that) once I get down between 1500 and 1000 I will run another batch. I have just over 1000 rounds preped (cleaned deprimed sized reprimed and belled) and 800 or so that I need to prep.

At the house on hand I usually keep 100 rounds of Speer Gold dots which is my primary carry ammo. I keep another 400-500 Independence FMJ. For practice rounds. All .40 S&W. I keep 300 rounds of whatever junky FMJ's I can pick up in 9mm for the carbine, ruger and kel-tek. And I have about 50 Hornady Critical Defense round for the Keltec and 20 hydroshocks left for the Ruger P-89. On a side note if I ever get low on .40's I just run down to the stationwith my pops and he tosses me a couple hundred rounds. Usually we hit up the range together so we eat through his ammo anyways.

How much is enough?
.380 = 50-75 carry and 300+ range
9mm = 100+ carry and 1000+ range
38sp = 100+ carry and 1000+ range
.357 = 100+ carry and 500+ range
45acp = 100+ carry and 500+ range
45colt = 100+ carry and 500+ range

I never fell like I have as much as I need, but keep as much on hand as I can afford.

As follows:

250 rounds .40 S&W Winchester Q4369 (same as PDX-1, FBI overrun) 180gr
250 rounds .40 S&W Federal XM40HC (same as HST, military/LE overrun) 180gr
25 rounds .40 S&W Hornady Critical Defense 165gr
25 rounds .380 ACP Buffalo Bore Barnes TAC-XP 80gr
25 rounds .380 ACP Speer Gold Dot 90gr

Not "carry ammo" per se, but:
500 rounds .40 S&W Speer Lawman FMJ 165gr
500 rounds .380 ACP Sellier and Bellot FMJ 92gr

Of actual carry ammo, I have at least 200 rounds in each of my carry calibers (9mm, 9mm Makarov, .40, .45 and .38/.357). Now if you add in practice ammo for each caliber, I have a minimum of 1000 rounds of each, above my carry quantity.

SD/HD ammo, I try to have at least 500 to 1000 on-hand of each caliber I have - 9mm, 12 Ga. and 5.56/.223. Current exception is .357 Mag/.38 Special +P, as I'm still trying to work out what I like, there.

Range ammo really depends.

I'm currently still really working on pistol training (I've been shooting for about a year), and depending on the season, I keep anywhere from 3,000+ on-hand, since training classes tend to burn through ammo. I'm looking at ordering 6,000 to 10K rounds some time this spring.

Currently, I have about 1,000 rounds of various 5.56/.223 and 12-Ga., each., for range fodder. I plan on starting carbine/shotgun classes this spring/summer, and that may cause me to stockpile more, here.

Yes, I know, I should reload, but for the time being, I'm trading money for time.
