much of todays 357 is hardly up to old +p. ive still got the ammo and the test results....somewhere.
1990 i got a beta crony and lots of ammo from family and was perplexed as to the varying V of the old & new ammo.
than made up some BP metallic cartridges and was further astounded at the high V vs todays 38 spl.
...concluded that even our ammo has been watered down kinda same as our spirit has
next stop Willoughby
as i've noticed about others--that they do not always do as i think they will nor often as they say they will.
this not only makes life interesting, it makes it dangerous too.
For Sale 1985 Toyota Supra. one owner, 82K, will pass inspection, only needs some body/rust patching

I have shooters bibles from 1958 to 2004 the data in those periodicals supports both of our stances that todays ammo has been watered down by manufacturers to some extent.

In the cartridges that you guys are loading with the LSWCHP bullets to +p velocities, are you using hard cast bullets or just "standard lead" like you would load in practice rounds? I'm really interested in working up a recipe for my 642. :)

for the 642 stick with LSWC or silvertips
+P's are not going much faster cause the bbl is so short.
unless you spend pretty for the new ammo designed for short bbl performance.
but a RN seems to push stuff ( tissue) out of its way as it travels inside a body where as
a SWC destroys material there by more so allowing blood a easier passage out of the body.
as for expansion...silvertips are the only ones i have found to expand ( though not fully)
out of the short bbl revolver.
--choose your ammo based on what performs best with you in your gun. and in your climate.
cause heavy coats vs t-shirts will affect bullet performance.
as i've noticed about others--that they do not always do as i think they will nor often as they say they will.

My understanding of Speer's Short barrel Ammo is they use a different bullet, one that is designed to expand easier at lower velocity, creating the same effect as the normal bullet at normal velocity.

I will be posting a series of videos on my youtube channel this summer regarding balistics. I will be doing more than just the typical "shoot into water jugs" testing.
I will be testing in the following situations:
shooting JHP through car doors and into balstic media
shooting JHP through Pylwood and into balstic media
shooting JHP through Drywall and into balstic media
shooting JHP through car windows and into balstic media
If you want your round tested feel free to post message me and we can work something out. I don't have the means to buy all the common hand gun rounds on the market to test them. I have the means to test every round except the .357sig.
I would love to test some Gold Dots, Hornady Critical Duty/Critical Defense, Federal, Winchester, Etc. Post message me. for more details or sugestions. I can test these two for you!
