327 magnum 115gr GDHP no longer made?
Hi all,
I have a SP101 chambered in the 327mag. round. I often carry this piece for self defense and I use the speer 115gr GDHP as a carry round. I have to say I was impressed the first time I target tested this round. The round was very accurate out of a 3" barrel, plus I like the idea of a heavier (all be it 15grs.) bullet just to all a little more penetration.I still have a few boxes of this ammo in my closet, but when I started looking for it on-line or in stores it seems to have been replaced by a Speer 100gr GDHP. I have not been able to find anything out about the reason for this change, the only thing I could come up with was a few reviews on the ammo complaining about the brass wanting to stick in the cylinder. I have fired quite a few of the 115 grainers and never had any problems.
Does anyone know why they seemed to have stop offering the 115gr bullet, my next question is
has anyone had a chance to shoot the 100gr gold dot hollow points out of their SP101? if so how was it? Do they still seem like a good all around defensive loading. As always thanks for the replies.. OH and I also want to ask has anyone tried the corbon loading with the 75gr DPX solid copper bullet? I was considering testing this to replace the 115gr GDHP, but after reading the test data corbon uses a 6" barrel, I'm worried it would loose too much velocity going from a 6" barrel at 1500fps down to a 3" barrel which I can only figure it would drop the fps a good bit, do you think the drop in fps would hinder the all copper bullet in a self defense situation as far as getting good penetration? just looking for some insight on this ammo too, being as it is pretty expensive compared to the regular hollow points made by speer & federal

I have shot jugs and cans with the 100gr HP and it works about the same as the 115 gr.
I really think the 100gr soft point is just as good as the HP anyway.

I have no experience with these, https://www.buffalobore.com/index.ph...uct_list&c=100 but this might be something for you. They have 32h&r that you could use too. I just saw these when looking for something for my .357. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies I just got done ordering some more 115 grainers, and for the hell of it I order a
box of the corbon dpx too ( 75gr SCHP ), I'll have to leave some feed back on them incase anyone else is thinking about
giving them a try
Thanks
