Carry rounds for my Colt Officer's Model

Apologies first if this has been covered ! My OM has been to Wilson's(and has an EGW recoil spring set-up) so it's a very reliable weapon.I run Wilson Combat mags...NOW give me some proven defensive ammo suggestions. THANKS!

Best Choices for Self Defense Ammo

    the usual suspects.

Find one that your pistol runs 100% reliably, and you think is accurate and controllable in rapid fire, and roll with it.

FWIW, my New Agent is running 230+P Ranger-T...but like I said, that's what works in MY pistol; you need to find what works in yours.

What he said. My Kimber is picky, even with Tripp mags, so your best ammo may not be my best ammo etc. I will say that Ranger T works for me as well.

My Kimber feeds HST pretty well. Other than Kimpro mags and a set of Meprolights, no other mods.

HST or Gold dots in 230gr flavor (+P if you must). Or Cor-Bon DPX 185gr +P. These are my three favorites. Ranger-T's are a good choice too. I've just see way too many videos of them failing to expand through thick clothing. This isn't a deal breaker (expansion is just an added bonus, but then again, is the whole point of HP's). With the consistency that HST, Gold dots or DPX give, they are better choices, in my opinion.

I carry HST .45 230gr +P in my G30 and also my nightstand M&P45. I carry HST 9mm 147gr in my G19. I carry Gold Dot .38SPL 135gr +P in my S&W442. I did carry DPX for the longest time. I only changed to HST bascially.... for the heck of it. I still like DPX as a defensive round.

Either way, pick a choice from the link Cuda66 provided and you'll be good.

Try a box from all the major players and shoot them for functioning and accuracy. Then go with what works best for you and your pistol.

IMHO, pistols are as fickle as redheads when it comes to "fit & function". Some look best wearing shorts in a doorless Jeep. Some look best in a Benz behind Ray bans. My Commander shoots Hornady 200-grain XTPs like they were developed as handloads. Your results may vary.

Geat advice(again) guys! RKM..I have a G19 and SP101 so the recommended loads for them were a bonus also. When I was still in LE..we ran Federal 147(standard)HP out of the Glocks and prior to that(when I still carried a M64 Smith as a duty gun)158gr+P LSWCHP,which is a proven load, for the wheelguns!
