Remington UMC 40 S&W Bulk Pack Terminal test

You can find this stuff almost everywhere, but I've never found a good terminal test on it. I had to do my own. It did really well for a modestly priced load.

Very nicely done... i wont buy or use any Remington's products after having a primer in backwards, and almost costing me my qualifications...

What kind of gel you using? Or you use the sim test media??

Not bad for an "economy" round.

Just curious Ljutic, is there a reason that you use only two layers of denim as aopposed to the usual four layers of denim in these tests?

Maybe he doesn't expect a denim clad Jay Leno to attack him.

I buy the UMC in 9mm and 40sw a lot. Good performance and good accuracy.

I live in a moderate climate so the two layers is my substitute for what a normal person might be wearing. I didn't know this initially, but the 4 layer test was created not to simulate clothing, but to verify that the hollow point cavity wouldn't plug and fail. The test designers figured out that 4 layers of heavy weight denim was "enough" to plug the cavity and cause expansion failures. I'm actually considering dropping the denim completely for one test shot and adding a second test shot through 2oz tanned pigskin and two layers of heavy denim as the hollow point "torture test".
