This Kimber owner runs 230 grain HST, standard pressure. Feeds very well.
Disclaimer:
My opinion shouldn't be taken seriously due to the fact that I've been shooting guns for over 30 years and have only recently been active on gun forums, where all the real world knowledge apparently is.
My CDP II Pro feeds Fed HydraShok, Rem Golden Saber, Speer Gold Dot and Win Silvertip just fine.
Find what defensive ammo is available in your area and experiment to see what works, and, more importantly, what doesn't. I suspect the latter will be a short list, but you need to confirm that for yourself.

I have fed every type of modern hollow point through my Kimbers. My current favorites are 230gr Gold Dots and 230gr HST's.
Kimber 4" SIS Pro here and 230 Gold Dots, 230 PMC Starfire, 230 WW Personal Defense (White Box) and most any hardball run well.

I've tried a variety of different ones through my 5" Kimbers and never had an issue with any. I finally settled on the HST 230 gr.+P as I really liked it's performance in the various tests I read as well as how it performs in my gun.
If you have the organ donor box marked "Yes" on your concealed carry permit, you may want to consider more training.
I have a 5" Kimber and have had success with Winchester Ranger 230 gr T series

Ruger owners check our sister forum http://rugerpistolforums.com a great site to share and learn about your Ruger pistols.
My Kimber Ultra CDP II has been reliable shooting Golden Sabers and Power Ball. I like the Power Ball for two reasons; it's shaped just like FMJ so nothing to to catch on to. It appears it works as advertised in helping to eliminate hollow point cavities filling up with clothing and not expanding. I like the Golden Sabers for one reason. They're really wicked looking after something is shot with them.
I polish my feed ramp with steel wool every time I clean it and it makes it really smooth.
I think, therefore I am...

Speer Gold Dot, 230g...Double Tap Ammo with the same bullet...About all I carry, ammo wise...
I have never had any ammo that wouldn’t feed in mine, I have two. I have even used semi wad cutters in it without any issues.
1911 when a follow up shot just isn't an option
I really want a Super Carry stainless. Alarm Guy, post some pics so I can drool. Good to know the Kimbers seem to digest most PD rounds.
I carry a 3 inch Ultra CDP II. With all the ballistic data and tests I've seen, I've sought out the round that provides the best velocities, penetration, and expansion from such a short barrel .45. For me that's the Corbon 160gr DPX loaded with the Barnes Bullet. I carry 230gr Ranger Ts in my 5inch 1911.
