Avoid the Remington 740s and 742s. While they shot straight, they had issues which caused them to be discontinued. The problem is the action seizes up after a while. Which is why parts are hard to get as well.
Don't get me wrong, my Father had one, and it shot quite well until the action seized up. It was quite expensive to repair so he could trade it off. What we learned then was that the gun had a fatal flaw.
It's not a matter of if the 740s and 742s will fail, it's a matter of when.
There are so many other good guns out there that would be a better investment.
Thanks. He always regretted turning in that .45. The Buf Spgfd lyrics seem to fit a lot of folks.
