What 9mm ammo do you use?

My carry guns have always been 1911's in 45acp or a 357 j frame revolver. I recently bought a Sig Sauer P938 and really like this gun because it is so much like my 1911's. I have never used 9mm for carry, so what rounds do you use?

I just got my wife a Glock 26 - ordered her some Federal HST2 147 grain standard pressure.

Your choices in standard hollow points range from 115 to 147 grain, and then of course there are +P and +P+ loads as well, and novelty/"specialty" type ammo that will be lighter. I wanted her to have something that would be comfortable to shoot, subsonic, and have as much penetration as realistically possible with a hollow point. 9mm penetration isn't too impressive in general (to me) - but you "gotta do with whatcha got".

I'm also a 147gr HST man, but can't go wrong with any number of choices. This reference gets pointed to quite often as a great guide: Best Choices for Self Defense Ammo

Speer Gold Dot 124 gr have done well in my short-barreled 9mm, so that's what I have loaded in it now.

DoubleTap JHP 124gr in 9mm. Works fairy well. Is about the most reliable ammo I've found, in a variety of pistols.

Thanks for the replies so far. Since it is such a light gun, I will stay from +p.

I have always liked Speer GD 124gr. and Double Tap 124gr...always have these two types on hand...and have
been known to use Buffalo Bore as well.

I've got a Kel-tec PF9 so I never go over 124gr bullets. Been running alternate mag loads of Aguila 124 gr. FMJ and a local brand, TrajeTech, 124 gr. JHP. Both have been flawless.

Sometimes I run Federal, PMC, and Aguila 115 gr rounds thru the gun, both FMJ and JHP's. Again, flawless. If I had a larger-framed 9mm, I wouldn't hesitate to go to 147 gr. rounds.

Speer Gold Dot 124 +P (and the Underwood Ammo version of the same as well)

If it's good enough for tens of thousands of police officers, it's good enough for me. It's been proven to work.

I'd say get some Gold Dots. You really can't go wrong with them. Also, Critical Duty or Defense from Hornady.
