223 ammo hp or fmj.
I know this may have been posted by someone before maybe even me. But for all around general usage. Like target practice home defence. What would be the best round fmj or something with a hollow point. And of course budget would be a major concearn with skyrocketing ammo costs. Thanks and stay safe.

M193 is pretty much good. The 75-77 gr HPs are good for defense. The lighter stuff is basically for varmints. M855 is basically worse than M193 for everything except defeating barriers. If I was going to stock up on 5.56 ammo - I'd be getting M193. For 223 - it's more complicated. I don't know. Are you sure your barrel is chambered for .223?

Pdx1 for hd. Its about $1.50/rd tho but I would never use range ammo for sd.

My ar-15 is chambered for 5.56 but you can use 223 they seem to be more availible in my area.

I stocked up on M193 and 5.56 75gr TAP a while back - I think 25-30 cents a shot for M193, and I got the 5.56 75gr for maybe 70 cents a pop?
Buying in bulk is much cheaper. What is the twist on your barrel? In almost every case - the right answer for cost/value is M193 (55 gr FMJ)
