Head Stamp ?
I'll usually end up with some 9mm brass when I'm trying to retrieve my .380
and sort it out at home.
Today I was sorting and found some with the head stamp marked WCC and
the number 12. Measured them out of curiosity ... L .743" D .390".
Okay ... 9mm Luger according to Lee's book is ... L .754" D .391" with a slight
taper to .381" at the front.
So ... anyone familiar with a 12 WCC head stamp ? Winchester Cartridge Co maybe ?
Shoot these in a 9 ?
Winchester brass. The length converts to a hair under 19mm, possibly the "trim to" length, too long to be .380 brass. It wouldn't be tapered if fired until resized.
Winchester Cartridge Company,I believe the 12 is year of manufacture 2012,very likely military surplus, bet it has a crimped in primer
I have no use for 9 mm so won't be attempting to decap it.
Just thought it strange to be stamped 12 and no other designation,
wondered what the heck is it ?
WCC 12 means Winchester Cartridge Company 2012.
It is 9mm NATO (military) ammo. The symbol that looks like cross hairs is the NATO symbol.
No cross in a circle mentioned....
WCC 12 is definitely Winchester Cartridge Company 12. If it wasn't marked 9mm I would suspect military as well. Did it have the NATO cross on it?
Looks like this http://www.frfrogspad.com/natocase.jpg
Could it be 9mmMak ? Or 8x18? DR
Should have taken a pic, senior moment ?
Hmm, don't look like a cross to me ?
Clearly the NATO Cross, inside a circle to look like crosshairs. It's 9x19 NATO.
The crimp is enough to say NATO round. Good brass--once you deprime and remove the crimp.
Now the more I look at it ... it does look like a cross ... thanks, question answered.
While we are on the subject, can NATO ammo be used in a 9mm LUGER?
For the most part, yes.

Some Saturday night special Jennings (or whatever)...probably not.
If it is a LUGER is chambered in 9mm Luger.....then it is the same as 9mm NATO/9mm Parabellum/9mm Luger/9x19mm.....they're all the same size. I wouldn't shoot NATO ammo in a 9mm that was old/cheap/crappy. It is slightly higher pressure than the normal stuff. I think they made some Lugers chambered in different calibers too....I'm not a C&R expert by any means. But I know what "9mm" means.
My 9mm that I was asking about, is my XDm 5.25. Good Right?
